Celebration of Legacies John Steinbeck and Woody Guthrie
Saturday, September 20, 2008
Thomas Steinbeck will host an all day concert event which marks the first major concert celebrating the legacies of both John Steinbeck and Woody Guthrie. The granddaughter of Woody Guthrie and grandnephew of John Steinbeck, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion are featured performers at "This Land Is Your Land" in addition to Sheryl Crow, The Black Keys, Cat Power, Henry Rollins, Son Volt, and Mike Ness (Social Distortion).
Thomas Steinbeck will open the event with some words on his father and Woody Guthrie, and will be signing books as well.
Please join us for this very special benefit concert as we pay tribute to these two American icons and exhibit contemporary voices dedicated to social activism, environmental causes and human rights. A portion of the ticket proceeds from "This Land Is Your Land" will benefit the John Steinbeck and Woody Guthrie Family foundations.
